Look Around in Your Manual
Adobe Acrobat Reader has easy ways to look at your manual:
- Moving up and down: Just slide your finger up and down on the screen (phone/tablet) or use the scroll bar on the side of the computer screen.
-
Making it bigger or smaller:
- Computer: Look for buttons with a "+" (plus sign to make it bigger) and a "-" (minus sign to make it smaller) at the top or bottom. You can also hold the "Ctrl" key (or "Command" key on Apple) and press the "+" or "-" keys.
- Phone/Tablet: Put two fingers on the screen and spread them apart to make it bigger, or pinch them together to make it smaller.
-
Finding words (Searching): This is super helpful for finding specific instructions!
- Computer: Press the "Ctrl" key and the "F" key at the same time (or "Command" and "F" on Apple). A little box will pop up. Repairs Advisor Tip: Type the exact words you're looking for. For example, instead of typing "how do I take off the wheel?", try "remove wheel" or "wheel removal."
Note: Repairs Advisor highly suggests our users using shorter, more direct terms will give you better search results. Avoid using conversational language in your search.
- Phone/Tablet: Look for a magnifying glass icon. Tap it, type your word (remembering to use exact terms, not full sentences!), and the app will show you where it is in the manual. Use the arrows to see all the places that word appears.
-
Jumping to different parts (Using Bookmarks): Many Repairs Advisor manuals have a special list called "Bookmarks." Think of these as digital tabs you can use to quickly jump to important sections.
- Computer: Look for an icon on the left side of the Adobe Acrobat Reader window that looks like a bookmark ribbon. Click on it. This will open the "Bookmarks" panel. You'll see a list of the main sections of the manual. Just click on a bookmark in the list, and it will take you directly to that page.
- Phone/Tablet: On the mobile app, there might be a menu icon (often three horizontal lines or three dots). Tapping this might show an option like "Bookmarks" or "Table of Contents" (which works similarly). Tap on a bookmark in the list to go straight to that section.
Simple Tips for Using Your Manuals:
- Look at the beginning: Check the list of what's in the manual (Table of Contents or Bookmarks) to get an idea of where things are.
- Think of the right words to search: If you're fixing a tire, search for "tire," "wheel," or "remove."
- Make the pictures bigger: Don't be afraid to zoom in to see the details in the diagrams.
- Use Bookmarks to jump around: If your manual has bookmarks, they are the fastest way to get to different sections.
